Hoko:
A Honda-Inspired Walker
TIMELINE: 4 weeks
INDIVIDUAL PROJECT
OBJECTIVE: Challenged to design a “Honda” inspired Personal Mobility device for a young patient with limited leg function.
TOOLS USED: Fusion360, Keyshot, Procreate
Instructed By: Ludwin Mora
DEFINING THE USER:
In learning about this project, I thought of a friend who is in their mid-20s and will be having hip replacement surgery due to his scoliosis. I decided to base my user on his background and situation. I identified that a rollator/walker would be the device most used in recovery by my user.
ANALYZE HONDA'S BRAND:
To better understand how Honda's brand might be applied to a personal mobility device, I found photos of their current projects surrounding mobility and comfortability. I highlighted different features that stood out to me.
IDEATION & EARLY MODELING:
I then began sketching. I had done a quick initial sketch that I then used to break down the walker into parts to further ideate. Once I had selected which features would embody Honda's brand, I began 3D modeling the frame.
FINAL MODEL & VISUALS:
After finalizing the frame shape, I finished modeling other features and added materials and colors to the rollator. The last step was to create a cohesive layout for all of my visuals to highlight my process, the features, and the scale of the Honda Hoko.
